Family Friendly Music Venues in NYC

Remember the days before you had children when you used to go out to see live music in bars and venues around NYC all of the time? Well we are here to tell you that those days don’t have to end – New York City has a treasure trove of amazing music venues that often have family friendly performances. We have rounded up some of our favorite below to get you started.

BAM Brooklyn – BAM is Brooklyn institution known for  hosting world class operas, film festivals and dance performances but they also have a pretty awesome kids program which includes many genres of music concerts geared towards families. www.bam.org

Brooklyn Public Library – The Brooklyn Library often provides free concerts for families in the theater at the Central Library and you should also check out your local branch for community concerts and sing alongs. www.bklynlibrary.org

Celebrate Brooklyn – While not specifically geared towards children, this summer concert series in certainly family friendly so bring your juices boxes and picnic blankets and introduce your kids to a Brooklyn tradition.  www.bricartsmedia.org

Brooklyn Bowl – Known as a great venue for grown up concerts (and bowling) but the Brooklyn Bowl also hosts monthly Sunday family concerts which introduce children to bands like the Beatles, Phish and David Bowie. www.brooklynbowl.com

Fort Greene Park – Fort Greene Park hosts a summer concert series called Music In The Grove which highlights some of NYC’s best children’s performers. www.fortgreenepark.org

Lincoln Center Kids – That’s right, Lincoln center has an entire series devoted to kids! With performances for children of all ages and spanning several genres of music, you are sure to find something for the whole family. www.lincolncenter.org
